Validating the existence of a super craton

Thesis defence

Supercratons, vast masses of land or super continents are believed to have existed in cyklical time frames in geologic eons the Mesoarchean to Paleoproterozoic, 4,000 to 2,500 million years ago.

In this thesis is looking at validation of the existence of one of the supercartons, Vaalbaara, was done through studies of geologic similarities in bedrock. However, there are findings in this study that support the hypothesis that Vaalbaara did not exist as believed so far, but was part of an even larger supercontinent.

Ashely Gumsley will defend his PhD thesis "Validating the existence of the supercraton Vaalbara in the Mesoarchaean to Palaeoproterozoic". Opponent is Professor Richard Hanson
